I'm sad I won't be seeing you all every day next term but I will be checking in on the blog to see what you are all up to. GRAYSON'S DOG

Today at reading time, Grayson decided to make a really cool dog at the construction table. Can you see all the different things he has used to make his dog from? Model 2B think he worked hard to create a wonderful dog. All our work on showing compassion towards dogs must be paying off! Well done Grayson.

EXCITING FURRY VISITORS

On Friday afternoon the students of Model 2B were extra lucky when they had some special visitors from K9 Natural. K9 Natural is a dog food company that has supported Model 2B with their Compassion Project to raise money for Dog Rescue Dunedin. Mark from K9 Natural gave a talk about his gorgeous sled dog team of Siberian Huskies. We got to pat them. It was lots of fun!

ARISSA'S SUPER BOOK REPORT

Arissa has been working hard on her Learning Commitment to create a review of a favourite book. She made a super job and shared this with the class.

NAOMI'S FUN GAME

Naomi's Learning Commitment this year was to create a fitness game to share with a group. Here is Naomi's plan: MY GAME IS CALLED: Balls I WILL NEED: Three balls, three cones HOW TO PLAY IT: You put the three cones in the middle. Get the three balls and you can do anything with the ball. The other person has to do the same thing. Naomi was a great leader and the kids had lots of fun playing her game. Super work Naomi!!!

JESSICA'S AWESOME POSTER

Jessica has been extra busy making an awesome poster as part of her Learning Commitment. Her goal was to create a poster on animals with facts, art and photos, to share with Model 2B. Well done Jessica!!!

JACK'S SPECIAL VISITOR

Model 2B got a surprise visitor on Friday! Jack brought along a newspaper article about his cousin Kushla for his current event news and then to our surprise she came along to visit us. Kushla is a really good soccer player and we enjoyed hearing all about her sport and seeing some of her clever soccer tricks! Thanks Jack for introducing Kushla and letting us ask her lots of questions!

CURRENT EVENTS

Each Friday Model 2B enjoy hearing from our Current Event reporters about interesting things happening in Dunedin or further afield. Well done to the children who are showing responsibility by being super organised and ready to share their reports.

SPELLER OF THE WEEK

Congratulations Imogen on being chosen as our Speller of the Week. It was fabulous to see so many children getting all their spelling words correct - we had lots of names in the prize draw this week!

PARENT INTERVIEWS

Miss Barnett and Mrs O'Sullivan are looking forward to meeting with children and their families this week on Wednesday and Thursday to review our 2012 learning commitment goals. If you haven't returned your interview notice and still need to book a time, please let us know.

DOG SHOP SALE!

Today at lunchtime we opened the Dog Shop for one final time. Everything was on sale. We were amazed at how many kids visited our shop. We sold out everything in half an hour. Wow! We have now made another $110.90 for Dog Rescue Dunedin!

RAFFLE SALES GOING WELL

Well done to Arissa, Phoebe and Jessica. They have already filled their raffle card, making $10 each for Dog Rescue Dunedin. What a great effort girls!

LIAM'S LOLLY CAKE BONES

Today Liam brought Lolly Cake Dog Bones to sell at the Dog Shop. What a great idea Liam!

DOG SHOP POSTERS & MINI NEWSLETTERS

We have been very busy designing posters and mini newsletters to advertise our Dog Shop Sale to the children on the senior side of the school. Once we had finished our advertisements we delivered them to all of the classes and invited everyone to our last Dog Shop.

DOG SHOP REFLECTION

As a reflection activity we have completed a PMI chart for our Dog Shop. We looked at all the things that went really well (Plus), things that did not work so well (Minus) and things other Interesting thoughts or Ideas. We decided that we would like to organise a raffle and that we would also like to have a Dog Shop sale to sell off the rest of our items.

HONG'S LAST DAY

Here is Hong on his last day at George Street Normal School.

FAREWELL HONG

Model 2B were sad to say farewell to Hong on Friday as he returns back to Malaysia with his family. Hong has been a wonderful friend and a conscientious worker and we will miss his kind and helpful nature. We hope that Hong will keep in touch with us through the blog and some of the Model 2B children might also like to write or email Hong and keep him up to date with what we are doing.
